Critics accuse Brian Kemp, the Republican candidate for governor, of suppressing minority votes to win

In fairness to Mr. Kemp, the Georgia Assembly legislatively revived the previously abandoned policy of purging the voter rolls absent an “exact match” by adopting HB 268 for specious public policy reasons.

Mr. Kemp, however, does not rely upon this ostensibly legitimate explanation for conducting the practice. He instead makes explicit a patently discriminatory intent by warning the GOP that Democrats are “registering all these minority voters that are out there and others that are sitting on the sidelines, if they can do that, they can win these elections in November.”
